This Ship Is Party in the Front, Business in the Backby Donna Heiderstadt | March 24, 2016
Part shipping freighter, part cruise ship, Aranui 5 made its debut cruise in December 2015. Its unusual hybrid silhouette — traditional freighter in the front, small, gleaming-white nine-deck cruise ship in the back — makes it easy to spot when docked in Papeete. (It sails the South Pacific waters on 14-day itineraries to the remote Marquesas.) But on board, Aranui 5's passenger areas look and feel similar to any other cruise ship, even though the front section holds freight cargo from its 17 regular year-round runs.
