Norwegian Cruise Line announced that their new private island, Harvest Caye in Southern Belize, will open in November 2016, with four ships calling on the island per week on Western Caribbean itineraries.

Harvest Caye will have a variety of amenities, including a 15,000-square-foot swimming pool lined with cabanas. In addition there will be a variety of fun activities, most for additional fees, including a 3,000-foot zip line course and a rope course (similar to the one on the line’s newer ships). In the saltwater lagoon, guests will be able to kayak, paddle board, boat, and canoe. The island will have 11 massive beachfront villas with air conditioning and room for up to 10 guests. Passengers staying in The Haven suites will have priority booking for the villas.

In addition to recreation there will also be a focus on the natural beauty of the island, with an estuary with 10,000 newly planted mangroves, a toucan-filled aviary, a butterfly garden, a Boa-constrictor viewing center, guided manatee observation tours. There will be no jet skis on the island so as to not disturb the wildlife.

Norwegian will also open a shopping village on the island, and a Margaritaville-branded Landshark Bar & Grill restaurant, with it’s own swim-up bar and "boat drink" menu.

The port's large marina will serve as a jumping-off point for afternoon shore excursions to Mayan ruins as well as snorkeling tours and rafting expeditions.
