Celebrity Equinox

Our Ship Review
Deal Expert / Travel Blogger

The 2,850-passenger Celebrity Equinox is the second ship in Celebrity Cruises' stunningly gorgeous Solstice class. One of two ships in this class (the other is Silhouette) that have undergone the cruise line’s “Revolution,” which brightened décor and added Edge-Series amenities, Equinox elicits oohs and aahs for its stylish design. Knockout spots include the South Beach-style pool area, done up with cushy loungers and water fountains, as well as the stylish Grand Foyer featuring onyx staircases.

What We Love

Cool Bars: The sultry Martini Bar is one of the best at sea, the World Class Bar serves fancy molecular cocktails, and the Cellar Masters wine bar lets you pour from self-serve machines. Prefer beer instead? Craft Social serves up plenty of options, both bottled and on tap. And if you love a great view, the al fresco Sunset Bar is the perfect spot to sip your favorite libation as Equinox sails away from that day’s scenic port of call.

Dining Options: You've got to love a ship where you can get chicken and waffles at the hamburger grill, dine on signature dishes by Michelin-starred Chef Daniel Boulud at The Chef’s Table (or in Luminae if you are a suite guest booked into The Retreat), be entertained by table-top animation as you savor filet mignon or lobster tail at Le Petit Chef, and top your house-made ice cream with gummy bears at the Oceanview Café’s buffet.

The Solarium: This adults-only, glass-roofed space is the perfect spot to relax poolside or enjoy a hot tub soak — whether you prefer to sip a healthy smoothie from the Spa Café or a boozy frozen cocktail from Slush.

Best Known For

Stylish Decor: The modern art collection is spectacular, and so are the public rooms, including the contemporary, Adam Tihany-designed main dining room (which has a two-story glass wine tower) and the funky, retro-inspired Quasar disco.

Having a Lawn: There's a half-acre of real grass up on the top deck. You can have a picnic, go barefoot, or practice golf putting — all while admiring the ocean views.

Who It's Best For

Couples: Twosomes ages 40 and up come on board for romance and relaxation — the ship is both elegant and quiet, generally with few children sailing.

Don't Say We Didn't Warn You

Be Prepared for Upselling: There are many ways to spend money on board, so you'll want to keep close track of your expenditures, or face an unpleasant surprise when your final bill arrives.
