MSC Divina

MSC cruises typically cater to Europeans, but the 3,502 passengers on the MSC Divina are typically North Americans. (English is the primary language onboard, including all announcements.) The ship retains its Mediterranean flair, however: You can sink your teeth into sliced steak Tagliata at the Eataly steakhouse and sample stracciatella at the poolside gelato bar. Afterward, adults can pedal off pounds at an Aqua Cycling class and kids can cool off at the 150-fountain water park.

What We Love

Pantheon Theater: There are two shows a night at this massive 1,600-seat theater, with performances including acrobatics, singing, dancing, comedy, and burlesque.

Balinese Spa: The ship’s expansive spa is a sanctuary of stone and wood. Try an invigorating massage (there are 20 to choose from) with lava stones or Himalayan fossil salts. Or you can soak in the Turkish bath or relax with an aromatherapy treatment.

Best Known For

Eataly: The Turin-based food emporium has a steakhouse onboard and a more intimate Ristorante Italia — hands down the best dining options on the ship. A shop also sells artisanal products from Italy.

MSC Yacht Club: Booking a stateroom in this ship-within-a-ship complex feels like a real privilege. The private dining room and lounge are situated away from the crowds, and butlers and dedicated staff are at the ready 24 hours a day.

Who It's Best For

Value Seekers: While MSC Divina is not technically a budget ship, the starting prices for these cruises are more accessible than those of other lines.

Europhiles: Though this ship has more American travelers than other MSC ships, there are still many Europeans on board as well as the traditional Italian cuisine.

Don't Say We Didn't Warn You

Food Is Average: The quality of offerings at the buffet isn’t anything to write home about — and lines can stretch on and on and on. Pay the à la carte prices at the steakhouse when you can and, if you’re in port, try to skip the onboard food altogether.
