Norwegian Jade Review

Our Ship Review
Deal Expert / Travel Blogger

Sailing in the Bahamas, Canada & New England, and Alaska, the 2,402-passenger Norwegian Jade is a large ship that still feels small and packs in plenty of activities for both couples and families. There are two pools, four hot tubs, basketball courts, and Vegas-style shows. And now, since its 2017 refurbishment and 2022 refresh, the ship has a more contemporary look and new restaurants, bars, and lounges. You can grab a cocktail at Sugarcane Mojito Bar, dance well into the night at Bliss Lounge, and order complimentary food at 24/7 O'Sheehan's Bar & Grill or at the poolside 1950s-style diner, The Pit Stop.

What We Love

All the Options for Solo Travelers: Want to get away on your own? Norwegian Jade features Solo Balcony, Solo Oceanview, and Solo Inside staterooms priced for single travelers.

Tankard’s Beer & Whiskey Bar: This intimate bar is ideal for those who would rather sip a dram of whiskey or a pint of lager instead of a tropical frozen beverage. It's also a great spot to hit before dinner or after a show.

Improved Spaces: Thanks to the ship's 2017 renovation, specialty restaurant Moderno now has sea views, Cagney's Steakhouse has more seating and a virtual fireplace, and the ship's color scheme is more tastefully muted than its previous in-your-face palette.

Best Known For

La Cucina and Le Bistro: The ship's Italian and French restaurants (priced a la carte) are worth an upgrade from the main dining room. The ambiance plays as much of a role as the food: La Cucina is decked out in decor inspired by the Tuscan countryside (complete with a wine wall), while Le Bistro has the charm of a Parisian cafe.

The Haven Suites and Villa: The "ship within a ship" area has a private concierge as well as butler service. Book a suite here and you get access to the courtyard with a private pool, sundeck, fitness area, and hot tub.

Who It's Best For

The Schedule-Phobic: Norwegian Cruise Line's signature "Freestyle Cruising" allows you to dine when you want and party when you feel like it. The ship's itineraries in the Caribbean, along with multiple bars and lounges, lively shows, and dance parties, enhance the ship's laid-back vibe.

Budget-Conscious Cruisers: Fares for this ship won't break the bank, with some Caribbean itineraries coming in at under $100 per night.

Don't Say We Didn't Warn You

Crowded Outsides: Norwegian Jade has two small pools and four hot tubs, making space a premium for sun-seekers, especially during sea days. Consider yourself warned: Loungers fill up quickly.

Less Exciting Entertainment Than Newer Ships: Shows don't dazzle as they do on the line's newest ships, where you can catch Broadway-caliber stage productions, top-quality cover bands, and entertaining comedians. And though there are plenty of activities, you won't find a bowling alley or rock climbing wall here.
