River Tosca

Our Ship Review
Uniworld Boutique River Cruises

If you’re looking for an experience akin to an upscale European river cruise, but set against the backdrop of a much more exotic destination, Uniworld's River Tosca's trips down the Nile River might just be the ticket. The 82-passenger vessel is definitely one of the most luxurious ships plying the Nile and benefits from Uniworld's trademark attention to detail: plush beds in the all-balcony suites, rich wood and tile details throughout the public spaces, and a delightful and helpful crew.

What We Love

The Pool Area: With its super-soft couches and chaise lounges and shaded seating areas, the sundeck pool area of River Tosca is a great spot to enjoy a refreshing dip or watch the passing desert scenery after long, hot days touring Egypt's top ancient sites.

Egyptian Flavor: Passengers enjoy plenty of creature comforts (air-conditioning and delicious Western cuisine, for instance), but will still feel very much in tune with the Nile and this ancient land thanks to Egyptian dishes on the menu and festive local entertainment and events on board.

Best Known For

Swanky Staterooms: All suites have a French balcony, marble bathrooms outfitted with a bathtub and shower, and Uniworld-esque décor (such as patterned wallpaper and antique-inspired furnishings).

Service with a Smile: Uniworld trains its crew well, so you can expect a very helpful and responsive onboard staff. They will have cold, refreshing drinks ready for you when you return to the ship (a common courtesy in river cruising in general) and remember your favorite evening cocktail. And if your body is aching after long days of temple gazing, book a relaxing massage.

Who It's Best For

History and Culture Enthusiasts: The main attractions on this itinerary are the impressive temples of Ancient Egypt, dating back as far as 4000 B.C. Even those who are not history buffs will likely get caught up in the intricate stories and legends spun by local guides. And along the way, the fascinating culture, politics, and traditions of Northern Africa will prove intriguing as well.

Don't Say We Didn't Warn You

Excursions Can Be Taxing and It’s Very Hot: This is not your typical relaxing, fun-in-the-sun vacation. You will be walking a ton — sometimes in very high temperatures — but the rewards will be far beyond anything you imagined.
