Our Ship Review
Uniworld Boutique River Cruises
Cruise Line
Deal Expert / Travel Blogger

Christened by French actress Catherine Deneuve in 2014, Uniworld's second Super Ship carries 159 passengers in 74 cabins and six suites. Public areas are named for French artists (S.S. Catherine cruises the Rhône and Saône Rivers) and showcase the bold decor the line is known. Case in point: The dramatic reception atrium is topped by a Murano chandelier and is also graced with a waterfall and glass horse.

What We Love

An Indoor Pool: You might be surprised to find a swimming pool tucked into the corner of the intimate Bar du Leopard. The enclosed pool has a rotating lighting scheme, and also features a lavish jungle mosaic.

Extra Details: There are lots of little extra touches throughout the ship, especially in the staterooms, where you'll find heated towel racks as well as heated mirrors (to keep them from fogging) in the bathrooms.

Best Known For

All-Inclusive Pricing: Your fare includes airport transfers, unlimited beverages (except for some top-shelf brands), most shore excursions, Wi-Fi, and gratuities — a convenience which makes for carefree sailing.

Unique Decor: Unlike other lines whose ships are cookie-cutter versions of each other, Uniworld's vessels are each individually decorated so that no one ship resembles the other.

Who It's Best For

Couples: Romance is big on this ship, especially with itineraries through the iconic French Riviera. You'll both feel like you are part of the jet set.

Single Travelers: This ship has one single cabin, a rarity on river cruises and the only one found on a Uniworld Super Ship.

Don't Say We Didn't Warn You

Upper Category Rooms Can Feel Cramped: Mid-range cabins have French balconies, while top category cabins and suites have balconies that function like a conservatory, with glass doors leading to the glass-enclosed balcony. While they are a cool feature, they use up square footage. You may prefer a French balcony cabin, which has the same square footage, but feels more roomy.
