Disney Cruise Line Adds Marvel and Star Wars Areas to Disney Fantasy

by Kayla Becker | May 25, 2017

Marvel Super Hero Academy

In addition to a "water coaster," a splash park, and plenty of classic Disney characters roaming the halls, the ship now has a revamped Oceaneer Club, the kids-only play space for children age 3 to 12. Of the separate themed areas within the club, there's now a Marvel Super Hero Academy, similar to those already on Disney Wonder and Disney Magic. Except instead of Captain America, kids can meet Doctor Strange (who is making his debut on Disney Cruise Line) and Thor, as well as play games that center on the mystic arts.

When kids enter the room, lined with mysterious Marvel relics and spell books, they can learn to use a Sling Ring (a mystical object that allows them to open a portal to another dimension), interact with a digital "gateway" that takes them to different worlds, and learn to recite gateway code from a giant spell book. There's also a video game here — Dark Dimension Defense — that's exclusive to Disney Fantasy. And when Thor comes around, kids can help him defeat his nemesis Loki and earn badges and medals for their achievements.
